Adeia Lowers 2026 Outlook After a $80.2 Million Quarter
Third-quarter revenue was $80.2 million, and the company cut full-year 2026 revenue guidance to $375.0 million–$415.0 million.
Adeia Inc. (ADEA), the technology company that licenses semiconductor and media patents, reported third-quarter revenue of $80.2 million for the period ended September 30, 2026, down from $96.1 million in the second quarter, and lowered its full-year 2026 revenue outlook to $375.0 million–$415.0 million from $395.0 million–$435.0 million.
GAAP diluted earnings were $0.02 a share, and non-GAAP diluted earnings were $0.21 a share. GAAP net income was $2.3 million. Adjusted EBITDA was $36.9 million. Cash flow from operations was $5.1 million, compared with $54.6 million in the second quarter.
Chief executive officer Dipti Vachani said the quarter reflected eight license agreements across Pay-TV, consumer electronics, e-commerce and social media, including multi-year renewals with Charter and TCL and four new customers. The company said it remained on target for a long-term annual revenue outlook of $600 million, a level it had raised from $500 million in the second-quarter release.
Chief financial officer Keith Jones said the pipeline remained strong and growing. He said that as the year approached its end, revenue could be affected by the timing of a select few deals, and that the company remained confident in achieving the high end of its 2026 revenue guidance range. The company said it adjusted the range to reflect the potential impact if certain of those deals closed after year-end.
The updated 2026 outlook also cut GAAP operating expenses to $283.0 million–$289.0 million from $295.0 million–$305.0 million, non-GAAP operating expenses to $176.0 million–$180.0 million from $184.0 million–$192.0 million, GAAP net income to $52.8 million–$79.2 million from $57.2 million–$80.4 million, non-GAAP net income to $136.7 million–$164.3 million from $144.2 million–$168.7 million, and adjusted EBITDA to $201.1 million–$237.1 million from $213.4 million–$245.4 million.
License activity in the quarter included a new long-term agreement with Fanatics, a sports apparel e-commerce company, new licenses with a social media company and a consumer electronics company, and three other Pay-TV licenses.
The company made $6.1 million in principal payments on its term loan, leaving an outstanding balance of $386.5 million as of September 30, 2026, down from $392.6 million at June 30. It ended the quarter with $127.7 million in cash, cash equivalents and marketable securities. On September 14 it paid a $0.05 a share quarterly dividend, and the board declared another $0.05 a share dividend payable December 14, 2026.
Operating income was $9.0 million in the third quarter, versus $27.0 million a year earlier. GAAP net income was $2.3 million, versus $8.8 million a year earlier. Adjusted EBITDA was $36.9 million, versus $50.7 million a year earlier. Non-GAAP diluted earnings were $0.21 a share, versus $0.28 a share a year earlier.
Vachani said she was honored to join as AI drives innovation in media and semiconductors and that Adeia’s foundational technologies sit at the heart of those trends. The company’s inventions, it said, span 3D interconnect (hybrid bonding) and advanced thermal management for AI datacenters, as well as content discovery, personalization and streaming, licensed across chip design and manufacturing, consumer electronics, automotive, digital entertainment and e-commerce.
The board’s $0.05 a share dividend is payable December 14, 2026, to stockholders of record on November 23, 2026.
