Thomson Reuters reports 10% revenue growth in third quarter

The company recorded total revenues of 1,833 million U.S. dollars for the period ended September 30, 2026

Thomson Reuters Corporation (TRI), the professional information services provider, reported total revenues of 1,833 million U.S. dollars for the third quarter ended September 30, 2026, an increase of 10% compared to 1,658 million U.S. dollars in the prior-year period. Organic revenues also rose 10% in total, with the same growth rate recorded across the Legal Professionals, Corporates, and Tax, Audit & Accounting Professionals segments.

Despite the revenue increase, the company's IFRS operating profit fell 22% to 402 million U.S. dollars from 517 million U.S. dollars in the third quarter of 2025. Diluted earnings per share declined 17% to 0.78 a share from 0.94 a share. Net cash provided by operating activities decreased 15% to 599 million U.S. dollars.

Adjusted EBITDA rose 10% to 651 million U.S. dollars from 593 million U.S. dollars in the same quarter last year. The adjusted EBITDA margin for the period was 35.5%, compared to 35.8% in the third quarter of 2025.

The company shifted its corporate structure by closing the sale of a 51% stake in its Global Print business to capital accounts advised by KKR on October 1, 2026, for gross proceeds of approximately 500 million U.S. dollars. Following this transaction, Thomson Reuters updated its full-year 2026 outlook to exclude the Global Print business.

The company now expects total revenue growth of approximately 9.5% and organic revenue growth between 8.5% and 9.0% for the full year. It projects an adjusted EBITDA margin of approximately 39%. Management stated that the adjusted EBITDA margin outlook assumes royalty revenue from the joint venture and transition services reimbursement will offset stranded costs from the former Global Print business.

Financial activity in the third quarter included the issuance of 1.3 billion U.S. dollars and 1.0 billion Canadian dollars of notes for total proceeds of approximately 2.0 billion U.S. dollars in September 2026. The company also completed a 600 million U.S. dollars share repurchase program that was announced in February 2026.
