DB Insurance Expands Global Reach via US Acquisition
The company acquired Fortegra Group to secure a business platform and underwriting capabilities in the US market.
The non-life insurer is focusing on the United States as a core hub to transition into a top-tier global company. To overcome growth limits in the domestic market and increase shareholder value, the company acquired the US specialty insurer Fortegra Group. This move allows the company to utilize a professional underwriting platform within the largest global market.
Beyond North America, the company has established offices and legal entities in China, Indonesia, Vietnam, and Myanmar. It has also conducted equity investments in local insurers to build a foundation for international growth. The company plans to refine its business models in Southeast Asia and pursue further expansion into neighboring countries.
To improve operational efficiency, the company has spun off specialized subsidiaries. These include three entities focused on long-term insurance claims adjustment, accident investigation, and customer call services. Additionally, it launched a sales subsidiary and a comprehensive financial service grandchild company to adapt to changing insurance channel environments.
Management is currently prioritizing customer satisfaction through the implementation of complete sales practices to comply with strengthening financial consumer protection laws. The company established a service standard manual covering customer response, insurance enrollment, and complaint handling. It continues to strengthen consulting for underperforming organizations and applies a three-strike out policy for employees and recruiters who cause incomplete sales.
The company is also executing a mid-to-long-term roadmap for ESG management. This strategy includes building an environmental management system, creating social value for stakeholders, and establishing a global-standard governance structure.
