The automaker recorded 71.37 trillion won in vehicle segment revenue for the first half of 2026.

The automaker Hyundai Motor generated 71.37 trillion won in revenue from its vehicle segment during the first half of 2026. This result followed the sale of approximately 1.97 million vehicles during the same period. The company also operated a separate other segment, primarily consisting of rail vehicle production, which reported 5.29 trillion won in revenue and 268.98 billion won in operating profit for the first half of 2026.

Within the other segment, Hyundai Rotem contributed 3.06 trillion won in consolidated revenue for the first half of 2026. The defense, robotics, and hydrogen business unit led this performance with 1.74 trillion won in revenue, representing 57% of the total. The rail system business followed with 1.13 trillion won, or 37% of revenue, while the plant engineering business accounted for 6% with 197 billion won. Hyundai Rotem maintained a total order backlog of 30.4 trillion won.

Hyundai Motor maintains a global sales target of 5.55 million units for 2030, a figure the company said is unchanged from the previous year. To reach this, the company plans to expand its electrified vehicle sales, including hybrids, battery electric vehicles, extended-range electric vehicles, and fuel cell electric vehicles, to 3.3 million units by 2030. The company intends to increase its total production capacity by 1.2 million units, which is 200,000 units more than the target previously announced during the 2024 CEO Investor Day.

Product strategies for 2030 include expanding the high-performance Hyundai N brand to more than seven models. The company also aims to sell 350,000 Genesis vehicles annually by 2030. To support these goals, the company plans to increase its hybrid lineup to over 18 types. In the North American market, the company intends to introduce the Palisade Hybrid and develop new medium-sized pickup trucks and SUV derivatives based on body-on-frame architecture.

Beyond vehicle manufacturing, the company added a car rental business to its corporate objectives in March 2026. This initiative currently operates by deploying rental vehicles into the Hyundai Genesis Selection subscription platform. The company said it will enter the rental market focusing on subscription services and expand the business in stages based on regulatory environments and market responses.
