Richtech Robotics Reverses Revenue Decline and Narrows Loss
Second-quarter net revenue reached $1.5 million, up 28.6% from a year earlier, after an 8.8% year-over-year drop in the prior quarter.
Richtech Robotics (RR) reversed a year-over-year revenue decline in the three months ended March 31, 2026, as net revenue rose 28.6% to $1.5 million from $1.2 million a year earlier, after an 8.8% year-over-year drop to $1.15 million in the prior quarter.
The rebound reflected customer engagement, event rental services, scaling of its Robots-as-a-Service model, and expansion of Alphamax Management LLC, its hospitality subsidiary. Product sales continued to recede as the company shifted toward recurring contracts.
Product sales were $317 thousand. RaaS revenue was $371 thousand, and event services were $507 thousand. Others contributed $306 thousand. Product revenue’s decline reflected a strategic move toward RaaS.
Gross profit was $665 thousand, with a 44.3% gross margin, versus $600 thousand and a 52.3% margin in the prior quarter. The margin improvement was mainly attributable to the higher-margin Others category, and the profit increase was driven by higher volumes across event services, RaaS, and Others.
Operating expenses remained the larger story. Research and development expense was $1.06 million, up from $448 thousand in the prior quarter. The increase reflected investment in artificial intelligence, system autonomy, and human-machine interaction, including work on NVIDIA-based platforms. Sales and marketing expense was $348 thousand; a one-time equity incentive award recorded in the first quarter did not recur.
General and administrative expense fell to $4.29 million from $11.77 million in the prior quarter. The first-quarter one-time equity award did not recur, and personnel-related costs were reduced.
Loss from operations was $5.03 million. Net loss attributable to Richtech narrowed to $276 thousand from $8.40 million in the prior quarter. The near-breakeven result was largely propelled by $3.3 million in investment income, compared with $0.4 million a year earlier, on higher average invested cash balances. It also recorded a $1.6 million non-cash gain from the change in fair value of warrant liabilities.
Cash and cash equivalents and short-term investments totaled $362.6 million at March 31, 2026, up $110.6 million from $251.9 million at September 30, 2025. The increase was primarily driven by $105.0 million of net share-issuance proceeds. For the six months ended March 31, 2026, net cash used in operating activities was $2.0 million.
In January 2026, the company closed a private placement raising about $35.89 million net by issuing 8.5 million Class B shares at $4.55. On April 1, 2026, it agreed to buy a 79,325-square-foot Las Vegas building for $21.18 million; the purchase closed on May 29, 2026.
Under a January 2026 initiative called “AI Across All,” Richtech completed redevelopment of substantially all affected software platforms by June 30, 2026, and intends to fully amortize or write off the remaining carrying value of those software intangibles as research and development expense in the period ending June 30, 2026. The remaining useful lives of certain existing software platforms had been shortened by accelerated deployment of next-generation AI-native systems.
Alphamax currently operates one restaurant in Georgia, maintains a storefront in Las Vegas, and is opening a Clouffee and Tea location in the San Francisco Financial District, scheduled to commence operations in the third quarter of fiscal 2026. General and administrative expenses are expected to trend upward as the company invests in organizational maturity, including compliance, audit, internal-control remediation, and D&O coverage.
