TechTarget Reverses First-Quarter Growth and Restates 2026 Targets
Second-quarter revenue was $116.1 million, down 3.2% from a year earlier, after a 2.1% year-over-year increase in the first quarter.
TechTarget, Inc. (TTGT), a B2B technology media and marketing company, reversed the year-over-year revenue growth it posted in the first quarter. Second-quarter revenue was $116.1 million, down 3.2% from a year earlier, after a 2.1% year-over-year increase to $106.0 million in the first quarter.
Customer spending reflected a challenging market backdrop, with customers taking longer to make decisions and commit to sales and marketing expenditures. Chief Executive Officer Gary Nugent said the company remains focused on growth initiatives and is committed to delivering year-over-year growth in 2026, and that the opportunity pipeline is expanding as go-to-market efforts concentrate on the largest customers and highest-growth markets.
Brand to Demand, the larger of the two reportable segments, generated $85.9 million in the second quarter, down 1.7% from a year earlier after 4.7% year-over-year growth to $75.2 million in the first quarter. Intelligence & Advisory revenue was $30.3 million, down 7.1% from a year earlier, after a 3.9% year-over-year decline to $30.9 million in the first quarter. The first-half Intelligence & Advisory decline was primarily attributable to lower consulting revenues.
Adjusted EBITDA was $15.1 million in the second quarter, down 13.0% from $17.3 million a year earlier, after 27.4% year-over-year growth to $7.4 million in the first quarter. The Adjusted EBITDA margin was 13.0%, down 1.4 percentage points from 14.4% a year earlier. The second-quarter decline reflected increased product investment and general cost inflation partly offset by cost synergies.
Net loss narrowed to $21.7 million, or a net loss margin of 18.7%, from $398.7 million, or 332.4%, a year earlier. The second-quarter loss included no technical non-cash goodwill impairment, compared with $382.2 million of such impairment in the year-ago quarter.
For the six months ended June 30, revenue was $222.2 million, down 0.7% from a year earlier. First-half Adjusted EBITDA was $22.4 million, with a margin of 10.1%. First-half Adjusted EBITDA margin was broadly consistent year-over-year, with product investment and inflation largely offset by cost savings and synergies.
Segment operating income was $49.1 million in the second quarter, with Brand to Demand contributing $41.4 million and Intelligence & Advisory $7.7 million.
Cash and cash equivalents were $45.8 million at June 30, 2026. Related-party long-term debt was $120.1 million, with $120.1 million of the company’s $250 million unsecured five-year revolving credit facility utilized.
The company reiterated 2026 growth guidance, continuing to target full-year growth in revenue and Adjusted EBITDA of $95.0 million to $100.0 million. Nugent said the second-half focus is on converting the growing pipeline, enhancing the product portfolio, and driving profitable growth through operating leverage.
Several products launched in the first half, including BrightTALK Nurture as a Service, Netline HQL, Studio AI Visibility Audit, GEO topic planner, Demandbase for Demand Marketers and Sherpa for Partner Marketers, and AI-enabled offerings expanded with new search and intent intelligence capabilities and the company’s first commercially available MCP. Active membership and member activity continued to grow year on year despite traffic disruption.
The company will discuss the results on a conference call and webcast on August 6, 2026.
