RBI Profit Recovers After Rasperia Charge, Fees Rise

Consolidated profit for the nine months to 30 September 2026 was €1,638 million, up €712 million from a year earlier.

Raiffeisen Bank International (RBI) reported consolidated profit of €1,638 million for the nine months to 30 September 2026, up €712 million from €926 million in the same 2025 period. The bank said the improvement was mainly attributable to an exceptional charge of just under €1.3 billion recognized in the prior year from derecognition of expected proceeds on claims against Rasperia. A €300 million provision for potential financial risks tied to the pending Rasperia proceedings was recognized in the current period.

Net interest income was €4,508 million, up €77 million (1.7%) versus the same 2025 period. The bank attributed the increase to higher business volume in Central and Southeastern Europe, lower financing costs and higher interest income from trading derivatives at head office. Interest-rate cuts and ruble devaluation reduced Russia’s contribution by €139 million.

The net interest margin on average interest-bearing assets was 2.84% for the nine months. Excluding Russia, the margin was held at 2.29% through hedging and purchases of fixed-rate bonds, which largely offset lower short-term rates.

Net fee and commission income rose €108 million to €2,140 million. Head office, Hungary, Romania and Czechia led the increase on asset management, securities and lending and guarantee fees. Russia’s fee income declined €43 million.

General administrative expenses rose 8.8% to €3,307 million, lifting the cost/income ratio to 47.9% from 43.8% a year earlier. The bank cited inflation-related salary adjustments, IT investment and one-off effects. Excluding Russia, the ratio improved to 53.0%. Operating result was €3,516 million.

Impairment losses on financial assets were €162 million. Stage 3 net allocations of €195 million, from adjusted expected cash flows and new defaults, were partly offset by €42 million of Stage 2 net releases on improved macroeconomic expectations. The NPE ratio was 1.5% at 30 September 2026, with NPE coverage at 50.8%.

Loans to customers stood at €113,626 million at 30 September 2026, up 7.6% from €105,610 million at 31 December 2025. Customer business volume rose 8%, including a €5 billion increase in households and non-financial corporates in Central and Southeastern Europe. Deposits from customers were €137,798 million, with growth in Czechia, head office, Hungary, Albania and Slovakia. Total assets were €226,166 million.

The transitional CET1 ratio, including profit, was 18.0% at 30 September 2026. The acquisition of Garanti BBVA Group Romania, completed on 2 November 2026, is expected to reduce CET1 excluding Russia by about 60 basis points in the fourth quarter of 2026. The Addiko tender offer had received acceptance of 94.84% of shares as of 2 November 2026.
