Emera confirms operational stability and intellectual property rights

The company reported no cyber attacks or unplanned outages over the previous three years that would cause a material adverse effect.

The energy and services provider Emera Inc (EMA) stated it has experienced no breaches, ransomware attacks, or unauthorized access to its information technology or operational technology systems in the three years prior to the Agreement Date. The company said these incidents include supervisory control and data acquisition and industrial control systems used to operate its assets.

Emera reported that no such security incidents resulted in service interruptions for customers or the unauthorized disclosure of personal information. The company also stated it has received no written notice of pending or threatened investigations or enforcement proceedings from governmental authorities regarding the security of its critical infrastructure.

Operational stability extended to physical assets, as the company noted there were no circumstances requiring unplanned repairs, replacements, or suspensions of operations that would reasonably be expected to have a material adverse effect.

Emera and its subsidiaries exclusively own or hold the licenses to the intellectual property rights required to maintain their businesses in the manner they are presently operated. The company said this intellectual property is sufficient for its current business conduct and maintenance.
