Holcim to Buy Fermacell in $980 Million Cash Deal

The acquisition is part of a broader strategic pivot to divest European operations and close the region's fiber cement business to prioritize high-growth opportunities.

Holcim announced a definitive agreement to acquire Fermacell in an all-cash transaction valued at €840 million, or approximately $980 million.

The deal aligns with a broader restructuring of the company's geographic and product footprint. Holcim intends to divest its European operations and close its European fiber cement business as part of a shift toward markets with higher returns.

“The strategic divestiture of our European operations and the intended closure of the European fiber cement business will enable us to focus on our highest-growth and return opportunities,” said Aaron Erter, CEO of James Hardie.

The transaction is expected to close in the first half of calendar 2027.
