KakaoBank Expands AI Services and Platform Reach

The internet bank recorded 15.04 million accounts for its one-month savings product.

The internet bank KakaoBank is transitioning into an AI-based financial platform by incrementally releasing services that utilize artificial intelligence. The company introduced an AI tab in its home screen during 2025 to allow users to access these tools more easily.

Specific AI implementations include a tool to verify smishing messages and a conversational search service that provides information on financial knowledge and company products. The company also launched an AI meeting secretary to analyze spending and dues for group accounts, as well as an AI invitation service that generates images and information for group members. To support accessibility, the bank became the first in the industry to add a sign language consultation feature to its frequently asked questions section.

Beyond AI, the company is growing its platform business through third-party partnerships. As of the second quarter of 2026, the bank had opened approximately 7.38 million stock accounts for securities firms. The bank also reports that approximately 2.57 million customers have signed up for the mini service designed for minors.

Product diversification continued through the first half of 2026 with the launch of a foreign currency account and the youth future savings product. The company also introduced a living expenses account in May 2026 to protect minimum funds for vulnerable financial groups.

Operational milestones include obtaining a virtual bank license in Thailand in June 2025. The company also established a strategic partnership with the MCS Group in Mongolia in April 2026.
