October nonfarm payrolls added 165,000 jobs and the unemployment rate slipped to 4.1%.

Total nonfarm payroll employment rose by 165,000 in October 2026 to 159,293,000 persons, a 0.1% increase from September. The unemployment rate fell by 0.10 percentage points to 4.10%.

Average hourly earnings for total private workers were 38.00 dollars per hour, up 0.14 dollars, or 0.4%, from September.
