Camp4 Completes Global ASCEND Clearances, Targets Year-End Dosing

Cash and cash equivalents stood at $124.5 million as of September 30, 2026, after a $50.1 million second private-placement closing, with the company saying funds are expected to last through the end of 2028.

CAMP4 Therapeutics Corporation (CAMP), a clinical-stage biopharmaceutical company developing regulatory RNA-targeting therapeutics, received authorization in the United Kingdom and European Union to expand its global first-in-human ASCEND Phase 1/2 trial of CMP-002 in patients with SYNGAP1-related disorder, adding to clearances already in place in Australia and Argentina.

The company said it had initiated trial activities across multiple sites and remained on track to dose the first patient by year-end 2026. President and Chief Executive Officer Josh Mandel-Brehm said regulatory clearances were now in place in Australia, Argentina, the United Kingdom, and the European Union, and that the company had launched the ASCEND trial.

The United Kingdom’s Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency authorized UK sites in September 2026. Multiple EU regulators and ethics committees granted authorization in October 2026. Those permissions built on July 2026 clearances from Australia’s Therapeutic Goods Administration and a local Human Research Ethics Committee, and from Argentina’s National Administration of Drugs, Food and Medical Technology.

Research and development expenses were $11.4 million for the quarter ended September 30, 2026, versus $9.9 million a year earlier. The company attributed the increase primarily to clinical and preclinical study costs, including activities to support initiation of the ASCEND trial. General and administrative expenses were $4.5 million, compared with $4.6 million a year earlier, which the company said was driven by lower professional fees and overhead, partly offset by higher stock-based compensation.

Research and collaboration revenue was $1.90 million in the three months ended September 30, 2026, up from $0.80 million a year earlier. Interest income was $0.98 million in that period, versus $0.42 million a year earlier.

Net loss was $29.0 million for the quarter ended September 30, 2026, versus $15.1 million a year earlier. The company said the increase was primarily a $14.0 million increase in non-cash loss from a change in fair value of the derivative tranche liability tied to the September 2025 private placement. That fair-value charge was $15.8 million in the three months ended September 30, 2026, versus $1.8 million a year earlier. Net loss per share was $0.37, versus $0.55 a year earlier, with weighted-average shares of 78.9 million versus 27.3 million.

Cash and cash equivalents were $124.5 million as of September 30, 2026, compared with $109.5 million as of December 31, 2025. The company said the September 30 balance reflected $50.1 million of gross proceeds received in August 2026 from the fully subscribed second closing of a private placement initially announced in September 2025. The second closing was triggered by the Australian regulatory clearance of the CMP-002 clinical trial application. The company said it believes current cash and cash equivalents will be sufficient to fund planned activities through the end of 2028.

On September 28, 2026, CAMP4 hosted a Virtual Analyst Day featuring key opinion leader Stéphane Auvin of Robert Debré University Hospital and Université Paris Cité, as well as patient advocates and members of the leadership team. The program reviewed the unmet need in SYNGAP1-related disorder and the design of the ASCEND trial. The company also announced plans to advance a program targeting SHANK3 regulatory RNA for the potential treatment of Phelan-McDermid syndrome, with a development candidate expected in 2027.

Mandel-Brehm said there are no approved disease-modifying treatments for SYNGAP1 and that the company is committed to rapidly advancing CMP-002 globally.
