Innospec Raises Annual Dividend 9% After Profit Recovery

Third-quarter revenue was $473.6 million, up 7% from a year earlier, as GAAP earnings reached $1.29 a share.

Innospec Inc. (IOSP) reported third-quarter revenue of $473.6 million, up 7% from $441.9 million a year earlier, a slower year-over-year pace than the 12% increase to $491.4 million in the second quarter. The specialty chemicals company said all businesses contributed to revenue and operating-income growth, with double-digit operating-income gains in Performance Chemicals and Oilfield Services.

Net income attributable to Innospec was $31.8 million, or $1.29 a share, compared with $12.9 million, or $0.52 a share, a year earlier. Adjusted non-GAAP earnings were also $1.29 a share, versus $1.12 a share a year earlier. Adjusted EBITDA was $51.4 million.

Performance Chemicals was the quarter’s profit inflection. Revenue was $180.5 million, up 6% from $170.8 million a year earlier. Volumes fell 5% and currency was a 1% headwind, offset by a 12% price-and-product-mix gain. Gross margin rose to 18.8%, up 3.7 percentage points from the year-ago quarter. Operating income increased 84% to $16.9 million from $9.2 million.

President and Chief Executive Officer Patrick S. Williams said Performance Chemicals sales growth and margin improvement drove the 84% operating-income increase. The company said it expects to commission North Carolina plant efficiency upgrades by year-end, which are expected to increase capacity, productivity and yields on a wide range of personal care and other products. Williams said that as utilization of that capacity improves and progress on new products continues, the company expects further growth and margin improvement in the coming quarters.

Fuel Specialties remained the largest profit contributor. Revenue was $180.7 million, up 5% from $172.0 million a year earlier, with volumes up 3% and price and product mix up 2%. Gross margin was 35.1%, down 0.5 percentage points. Operating income was $35.6 million, up 1% from $35.3 million. Williams said the business delivered revenue growth and steady operating income with margins that remained within the company’s target range.

Oilfield Services revenue was $112.4 million, up 13% from $99.1 million a year earlier. Gross margin was 28.2%, down 1.8 percentage points on a weaker sales mix. Operating income rose 40% to $6.7 million from $4.8 million. Williams said that increase was driven by the company’s recent DRA plant expansion.

Williams said Oilfield Services sequential results were lower than expected on continued activity delays in the legacy Middle East business and elevated raw-material costs. The company is expecting improvement across several of those areas to drive sequential operating-income growth in the fourth quarter.

Corporate costs were $18.6 million. The adjusted effective tax rate was 24.7%, compared with 22.7% a year earlier, due to the geographical mix of taxable profits.

Cash provided by operating activities was $17.4 million, compared with $39.1 million a year earlier, before capital expenditures of $15.6 million. The quarter closed with net cash of $251.9 million and no debt.

The board approved a semi-annual dividend of 94 cents a share for the second half of 2026, payable November 25, 2026, to shareholders of record as of November 17, 2026. That brings the annual dividend to $1.86 a share, a 9% increase over 2025. Williams said the company continues to focus on driving increased operating cash flow in the coming quarters with better working-capital efficiency and that it has significant balance-sheet flexibility for organic investment, M&A, dividend growth and buybacks.
