Entergy Corporation (ETR) reported third-quarter 2026 earnings of $940 million, or $1.98 a share, on both an as-reported and an adjusted basis, up from $694 million, or $1.53 a share, a year earlier.
The sequential step-up was steeper than the second quarter, when earnings were $483 million, or $1.03 a share. Estimated weather added $116 million, or $0.24 a share, versus $28 million, or $0.06 a share, in the year-ago period.
Utility earnings attributable to Entergy were $1,079 million, or $2.28 a share, compared with $810 million, or $1.79 a share. The company said the primary drivers were higher retail sales volume including weather, the net effect of regulatory actions across several operating companies, return on construction work in progress for certain utility plant investments, and higher other income. Those gains were partly offset by higher interest expense, other O&M, and depreciation and amortization.
Utility operating revenue less fuel, fuel-related expenses and gas purchased for resale, purchased power, and other regulatory charges (credits) – net contributed $0.76 a share of the Utility EPS increase. Electric volume and weather added $0.33 a share, retail electric price $0.33 a share, return on CWIP $0.09 a share, Grand Gulf recovery $0.02 a share, and miscellaneous revenue $0.02 a share. E-MS 3Q25 PPA termination proceeds reduced the comparison by $0.02 a share and E-TX capacity costs net of recovery by $0.01 a share. Higher Utility interest expense reduced earnings by $0.13 a share, higher other O&M by $0.10 a share, and higher depreciation and amortization by $0.05 a share; higher other income (deductions) added $0.10 a share.
Parent & Other reported a loss of $139 million, or 29 cents a share, versus a $117 million, or 26 cents a share, loss a year earlier. The company said the primary driver of the quarter-over-quarter change was higher interest expense. Diluted average common shares outstanding were 474 million, up 21 million from 454 million, reducing Utility EPS by 10 cents and consolidated EPS by 9 cents.
Entergy narrowed 2026 adjusted earnings per share guidance to a range of $4.35 to $4.45. The board declared a quarterly dividend of 68 cents a share, a six percent increase.
