Alamo Group Acquires Econ Engineering in $158.7 Million Deal
The industrial-equipment maker said the UK roadway-truck manufacturer will expand its Industrial Equipment portfolio and strengthen its United Kingdom platform.
Alamo Group Inc. (ALG) acquired Econ Engineering Group Limited, a UK manufacturer of roadway maintenance trucks, for £120 million, or approximately $158.7 million, subject to customary closing adjustments.
The Seguin, Texas-based industrial and vegetation management equipment maker said the purchase expands its Industrial Equipment portfolio and adds a complementary business with opportunities for continued growth. The deal also strengthens Alamo Group’s platform in the United Kingdom.
Founded in 1969 and headquartered in Ripon, North Yorkshire, Econ manufactures equipment used in year-round road maintenance, including gritters, de-icing vehicles, road patching and repair equipment, and multi-purpose truck bodies. The company also operates a rental fleet of approximately 1,300 of its own vocational trucks and provides parts and service support to customers throughout the UK. Its primary customers include UK local authorities, government agencies and related contractors.
For the fiscal year ended March 31, 2026, Econ generated approximately $88 million of net sales and $38.5 million of Adjusted EBITDA.
Robert Hureau, Alamo Group’s President and Chief Executive Officer, said, “A key focus of our strategy is to continue strengthening the quality of our portfolio and improving the margin profile of our businesses.” He added that Econ’s leading market position, differentiated products, strong customer service capabilities, attractive financial profile, and resilient end-markets make it a fit with Alamo Group’s industrial businesses, and that the company gives the group a stronger UK platform and creates opportunities for long-term growth.
Hureau said that beyond the initial synergies expected from bringing Econ onto Alamo Group’s platform, the company sees significant room to grow the business both within and beyond its core market.
The acquisition follows Alamo Group’s January 2026 close of Petersen Industries, a manufacturer of truck-mounted grapple loader equipment, which also joined the Industrial Equipment Division. Alamo Group said Econ is another step in a strategy of disciplined investment in market-leading businesses serving essential infrastructure and maintenance applications.
