Teradyne Clears Third-Quarter Guidance High End

Revenue was $1,306 million, up 70% from a year earlier, as Memory and Integrated Systems Test hit records and Robotics posted its best third quarter.

Teradyne, Inc. (TER) reported third-quarter 2026 revenue of $1,306 million, up 70% from $769 million a year earlier, exceeding the high end of the $1,200 million to $1,300 million range it had issued for the period.

The automated test-equipment and robotics company said results came in above that guidance as demand extended across the AI value chain, from memory and hard-disk-drive test to high-speed interconnect and robotics. Chief executive Greg Smith said the company’s wafer-to-data-center strategy and portfolio breadth “sustained positive momentum” in the quarter.

Sequential revenue slipped from $1,329 million in the second quarter, after that quarter had risen from $1,282 million in the first. Semiconductor Test, the largest group, contributed $1,072 million. Product Test was $138 million. Robotics was $96 million.

GAAP net income attributable to Teradyne was $342.4 million, or $2.17 a share, versus $0.75 a share a year earlier. Non-GAAP net income was $359.9 million, or $2.29 a share, versus $0.85. GAAP diluted earnings were down from $2.38 in the second quarter; non-GAAP diluted earnings were $2.47 then.

The company said Memory and Integrated Systems Test delivered record revenue, driven by “all things AI.” Robotics delivered its highest third-quarter revenue to date and achieved profitability, the company said.

GAAP gross margin was 59.1% of revenue. GAAP operating margin was 30.8%; non-GAAP operating margin was 31.6%. Restructuring and other charges were $2.0 million.

Cash and cash equivalents were $460.7 million at quarter-end. Accounts receivable, net, were $1,110.8 million. Inventories, net, were $575.0 million. The company declared a cash dividend of $0.13 a share.

Guidance for the fourth quarter of 2026 is revenue of $1,250 million to $1,350 million, GAAP net income of $1.88 to $2.18 a share, and non-GAAP net income of $1.95 to $2.25 a share. Non-GAAP guidance excludes acquired intangible asset amortization and amortization on the company’s investment in Technoprobe, as well as related tax effects.

Smith said the company approaches 2027 with a more diversified business and an expanding set of opportunities across test and robotics.
