Kenvue Organic Sales Growth Accelerates to 2.9%
Net sales rose 3.2% to $3,886 million in the fiscal third quarter, with diluted earnings of $0.22 a share.
Kenvue Inc. (KVUE) reported a fourth consecutive quarter of net and organic sales growth in the fiscal third quarter ended September 27, 2026, with organic sales growth accelerating to 2.9% from 1.6% in the second quarter.
Net sales were $3,886 million, up 3.2% from a year earlier, including a 0.3% foreign-currency benefit. Volume contributed 1.6% to the organic increase and value realization 1.3%, compared with 0.7% volume and 0.9% value realization in the prior quarter.
Chief Executive Officer Kirk Perry said the company delivered strong performance in Self Care and Essential Health, along with margin expansion and cash generation, and that results reflected momentum from disciplined execution, productivity initiatives, and investment in brands and innovation. He said the company is strongly on track to deliver the business transformation it began last year and that, as it nears completion of its combination with Kimberly-Clark, the team is excited about the opportunities ahead.
Gross profit margin expanded to 59.5% from 59.1% a year earlier, and adjusted gross profit margin rose to 61.5% from 61.2%, reversing second-quarter year-over-year compression of 70 basis points on both measures. The company said the year-over-year change primarily reflected savings from productivity gains from global supply-chain optimization, U.S. tariff refunds, and favorable value realization, partially offset by inflation and unfavorable transactional foreign exchange.
Operating income margin was 18.2% versus 16.7% a year earlier, and adjusted operating income margin was 21.9% versus 21.5%, after second-quarter year-over-year declines of 30 and 60 basis points. The company attributed the operating-margin change to the gross-margin moves plus savings from cost-optimization actions, including the 2026 Restructuring Initiative and Our Vue Forward, partially offset by a year-over-year increase in brand support.
Diluted earnings were $0.22 a share, up 5% from $0.21 a year earlier. Adjusted diluted earnings were $0.29 a share, up 4% from $0.28.
Self Care was the growth engine. Segment net sales increased 5.9% to $1,656 million, with organic sales up 5.4% on 3.4% volume and 2.0% value realization. Adjusted operating income in the segment rose to $537 million from $520 million. The company said organic sales increased in Asia Pacific, benefiting from favorable inventory-related comparisons after prior-year trade-inventory depletion, while Pain Care innovation and commercial execution let Motrin outperform the market as the region saw rising flu incidences. Smoking Cessation delivered low double-digit organic sales growth, led by EMEA and APAC, on demand and execution for Nicorette. Pepcid continued to outperform its category. In the U.S., consumption trends improved sequentially, and Tylenol gained market share despite lower seasonal incidences and continued category softness.
Skin Health and Beauty net sales were essentially unchanged at $1,039 million. Organic sales declined 0.5% on a 1.7% volume decrease, partially offset by 1.2% value realization. Adjusted operating income rose to $149 million from $137 million. The company said the organic decline reflected distribution losses and promotion timing in the U.S. and retailer negotiations in Europe. Hair Care was a key growth driver, with low double-digit organic sales growth led by Rogaine, which achieved a fourth consecutive quarter of market-share gains, and continued momentum behind OGX.
Essential Health net sales increased 2.5% to $1,191 million, with organic sales up 2.5% on 2.0% volume and 0.5% value realization, and growth across all regions. Adjusted operating income rose to $315 million from $307 million. Baby Care delivered growth driven by Johnson’s Baby across all regions, supported by social-commerce acceleration, activations, and innovation. Women’s Health contributed, led by Stayfree launches in India and o.b. returning to growth in EMEA after a brand restage and pricing actions. Wound Care continued to gain market share.
Interest expense, net, was $89 million versus $93 million a year earlier. The effective tax rate was 29.4% versus 24.3%; the adjusted effective tax rate was 24.7% versus 24.0%. The company said the increase largely reflected a reduction in favorable discrete return-to-provision adjustments, partially offset by tax-law changes.
Restructuring expenses were $33 million versus $84 million a year earlier. The 2026 Restructuring Initiative, approved February 17, 2026, is expected to result in approximately $250 million of pre-tax restructuring expenses and other charges in fiscal 2026.
For the fiscal nine months ended September 27, 2026, net cash flows from operating activities were $1.9 billion versus $1.3 billion a year earlier, with free cash flow of $1.6 billion versus $1.0 billion. Total cash and cash equivalents were $1.0 billion as of September 27, 2026, versus $1.1 billion as of December 28, 2025. Total debt was $8.2 billion versus $8.5 billion at year-end 2025.
Due to the pending transaction with Kimberly-Clark, Kenvue will not provide forward-looking guidance and will not host a quarterly conference call.
