Immuneering Extends Pancreatic Phase 2 Follow-Up

Cash, cash equivalents and marketable securities were $166.1 million at September 30, 2026, and the company now expects a runway into the fourth quarter of 2028.

Immuneering Corporation (IMRX), a late-stage clinical oncology company developing Deep Cyclic Inhibitors for MAPK-driven cancers, said follow-up in its Phase 2 first-line pancreatic cancer trial is being extended because patients treated with atebimetinib plus modified gemcitabine/nab-paclitaxel are living longer than projected. The company now plans to share updated topline data from that 55-patient arm in the first half of 2027.

Chief Executive Officer Ben Zeskind said the extension, together with accelerated and expanded Phase 3 enrollment and commercial readiness work, is why cash runway guidance moved to the fourth quarter of 2028. That is shorter than the anticipated runway into 2029 the company had given after the second quarter.

Cash, cash equivalents and marketable securities were $166.1 million as of September 30, 2026, down from $182.7 million at June 30, 2026.

Enrollment in the pivotal Phase 3 MAPKeeper 301 trial, which compares atebimetinib plus mGnP with standard-of-care chemotherapy in first-line metastatic pancreatic cancer, was described as ahead of schedule. The company said that momentum allows it to expand the enrollment target from 510 patients to approximately 570 and potentially accelerate the current mid-2028 topline data readout. Zeskind framed the same enrollment pace as enabling the expansion and a possible earlier readout.

The company had dosed the first MAPKeeper 301 patient in June and, in August, said more than 30 study locations had been posted. In October it presented the trial design at ESMO Congress 2026.

Net loss attributable to common stockholders was $24.2 million, or $0.37 a share, for the third quarter ended September 30, 2026, compared with $15.0 million, or $0.38 a share, a year earlier. Weighted-average common shares outstanding, basic and diluted, were 64.7 million in the three months ended September 30, 2026, versus 39.7 million a year earlier.

Research and development expenses were $20.7 million in the third quarter of 2026, compared with $10.9 million in the third quarter of 2025. The company said the increase was primarily attributable to higher clinical costs related to the lead program and increased personnel to support ongoing research and development. General and administrative expenses were $5.1 million, compared with $4.5 million a year earlier, which the company attributed primarily to higher stock-based compensation and employee-related costs.

Zeskind said the company is seeing growing recognition of atebimetinib’s differentiated mechanism after presentations at the 2026 AACR Conference on Pancreatic Cancer and ESMO Congress 2026, and pointed to the 17.3-month median overall survival with tolerability reported at ASCO in June. In September the company presented data that stable or increased weight was twice as common among pancreatic cancer patients in an atebimetinib plus mGnP trial compared with a benchmark study, and that patients with stable or increased weight at three months had significantly longer overall survival than those who lost weight at three months.

In October, atebimetinib was featured on the cover of Cancer Research in a paper describing broad activity in RAS- and RAF-mutant tumors via deep cyclic inhibition.

Near-term milestones the company listed include preclinical data for atebimetinib with anti-PD-1 in lung cancer at SITC in the fourth quarter of 2026, dosing the first patient in a Phase 2 trial of atebimetinib plus cemiplimab in lung cancer in the fourth quarter of 2026 with a preliminary readout expected in late 2027, updated first-line pancreatic Phase 2 data in the first half of 2027, IND-enabling studies for a next Deep Cyclic Inhibitor candidate in mid-2027, and the MAPKeeper 301 topline readout in mid-2028.
