Deep Fission Signs 25-Year Kansas Power Purchase

A master energy purchase agreement converts a 2025 letter of intent into a binding contract for a commercial plant at the DOE pilot site, with an initial 150 MW phase aimed at September 2028.

Deep Fission, Inc. (FISN) said it signed a Master Energy Purchase Agreement with the Great Plains Development Authority that converts a December 2025 letter of intent into a definitive contract for a commercial project at the site of the company’s DOE pilot. The agreement binds Deep Fission to pursue the project and to supply power once the plant is licensed and operating, subject to the agreement’s terms and conditions.

Under the agreement GPDA will purchase electricity generated and made available by Deep Fission to satisfy the electricity requirements of industrial park tenants, up to the contracted capacity, with no minimum purchase obligation. The agreement also permits GPDA to assign its purchase obligations to qualifying tenants.

The initial phase is targeted at up to 150 MW by September 2028, with growth to up to 2 GW by 2031. The structure of the purchase was not specified in the release.

“[T]his agreement turns a shared vision into a binding commitment,” said Liz Muller, CEO and Co-Founder of Deep Fission. “Our approach is to bring firm power directly to where it’s needed. Great Plains has been with us since we broke ground, and we’re proud to take this next step together as we deliver reliable, clean, 24/7 power, with our Gravity reactor.”

The commercial site is the same location as Deep Fission’s Department of Energy pilot, and the company said Great Plains has been involved since groundbreaking. The Gravity reactor is the technology Muller named as the source of the 24/7 firm power the agreement is meant to deliver.

The 150 MW first phase is the near-term milestone, with the 2 GW figure as the longer-dated growth target. Licensing and operation remain prerequisites before supply begins.
