BancFirst Extends Net Interest Income Gain to a Third Quarter
Net interest income reached $136.0 million as the margin held at 3.85% and loans stood at $8.73 billion.
BancFirst Corporation (BANF), an Oklahoma-based financial services holding company, reported net interest income of $136.0 million for the three months ended September 30, 2026, up from $133.5 million in the second quarter. The company said higher loan volume and general growth in earning assets were the primary drivers.
Net interest margin was 3.85%, up 1 basis point from 3.84% in the second quarter and 6 basis points from 3.79% a year earlier. Average loans were $8.67 billion, with a loan yield of 6.87%. Period-end loans totaled $8.73 billion, up $187.9 million from December 31, 2025.
Net income was $67.3 million, or $1.97 a share, compared with $62.7 million, or $1.85 a share, in the third quarter of 2025. Return on average assets was 1.76%.
Noninterest income was $51.4 million, down from $53.9 million in the second quarter. Service charges on deposits were $19.3 million and cash management $10.9 million. The company said service charges on deposits and treasury income each increased versus the third quarter of 2025.
Noninterest expense was $98.2 million. Salaries and employee benefits were $61.8 million, and the company attributed the year-over-year expense increase primarily to a $4.1 million rise in those costs. The efficiency ratio was 52.41%.
Total deposits were $12.70 billion at September 30, 2026, down $126.6 million from $12.83 billion at June 30. Noninterest-bearing demand deposits were $4.05 billion. Sweep accounts totaled $4.7 billion, down $282.5 million from December 31, 2025. Total assets were $15.0 billion. Stockholders’ equity was $2.0 billion.
The provision for credit losses on loans was $3.2 million, down from $4.8 million in the second quarter. Net charge-offs were $4.0 million, including $1.8 million related to purchased credit-deteriorated loans that the company said performed in line with expectations after acquisition. Nonaccrual loans were $75.6 million, or 0.87% of loans, down from $81.4 million, or 0.94%, at June 30. The allowance for credit losses to total loans was 1.23%. One commercial loan was the primary driver of the nonaccrual balance.
Cash dividends declared were $0.52 a share, up from $0.49 in the second quarter. Return on average equity was 13.42%.
Chief Executive Officer David Harlow said earnings were driven by growth in earning assets, a sustained margin, year-over-year growth in noninterest income and expenses in line with plan. He said capital levels remain strong and the allowance is ample, and that asset-quality metrics are stable and charge-offs remain in line with historical levels. The company said it expects higher interest rates and a higher-for-longer rate outlook to have a dampening effect on future economic activity. The previously announced acquisition of Tulsa-based Spirit Bank is on schedule to close in October.
