Nordson Completes Contrinex Sensor Acquisition

The precision-technology company said the sensor maker’s harsh-environment and miniature positioning technology fits its test-and-inspection portfolio and factory-automation focus.

Nordson Corporation (NDSN) completed its acquisition of Contrinex, a global technology leader in high-performance sensors supporting factory automation and related solutions, on October 23, 2026.

The company said the acquisition complements its test and inspection portfolio, adding leading technology in harsh-environment and miniature precision-positioning applications and increasing its exposure to industrial automation trends.

Srini Subramanian, executive vice president of Nordson Advanced Technology Solutions, said the deal is aimed at factory automation and control. “We are excited to welcome Contrinex’s nearly 500 employees into the Nordson family. Their differentiated sensor technology complements our test and inspection portfolio, particularly our growth focus on factory automation and control solutions,” Subramanian said.

Contrinex, headquartered in Corminboeuf, Switzerland, generates approximately $50 million in annual revenue. Its technology portfolio includes inductive position sensors, photoelectric position sensors, and smart measurement sensors with integrated logic. The company said the acquisition increases Nordson’s exposure to attractive industrial automation trends, supported by the growing adoption of sensing technologies that enable factory automation, machine control, and smart manufacturing. Contrinex will be integrated into Nordson’s Advanced Technology Solutions segment.

Subramanian said the acquisition signifies further progress on Nordson’s Ascend Strategy to achieve top-tier growth through differentiated technologies with leading margins and returns. The company said it looks forward to applying the NBS Next growth framework and investing in Contrinex’s greatest opportunities for profitable growth, while also scaling their product offering across its global customer base.
