Ohio Valley Banc Extends Buyback Program Through 2027

The community lender has repurchased roughly 59% of its $5 million share-repurchase authorization after extending the program by one year.

Ohio Valley Banc Corp. (OVBC) extended its stock buyback program by one year to August 31, 2027, keeping the $5 million authorization intact as the community bank continues to return capital to shareholders.

As of August 18, 2026, the Gallipolis, Ohio-based lender had repurchased approximately $2,967,000 of its own shares, consuming roughly 59% of the authorized amount. The pace of buybacks signals management's willingness to deploy capital toward repurchases even as the bank navigates the interest-rate and credit environment facing small-cap community lenders in the Ohio River Valley.

The extension preserves the bank's flexibility to continue purchasing shares over the coming year without requiring a new board authorization. For a bank of Ohio Valley's size — the company operates a handful of branches serving southeastern Ohio and western West Virginia — the $5 million program represents a meaningful allocation of capital relative to its market capitalization.

The remaining authorization of just over $2 million gives the bank room to continue repurchasing shares through mid-2027, though the pace of future purchases will depend on market conditions, capital levels, and competing uses for cash such as loan growth or potential acquisitions.
