Nouveau Monde Graphite Secures Funding for Matawinie Mine Decision

The company raised 426.9 million Canadian dollars through an equity financing package to reach a final investment decision for its Phase-2 project.

Nouveau Monde Graphite Inc. (NMG), a developer of carbon-neutral advanced graphite materials in Québec, reached a final investment decision for the Phase-2 Matawinie Mine following a significant capital injection.

The company completed an aggregate equity financing package of 426.9 million Canadian dollars (US$309.7 million). This package included a 294.6 million Canadian dollar private placement on May 15, 2026, involving Canada Growth Fund Inc., Investissement Québec, and ENI S.p.A.. Additionally, 132.3 million Canadian dollars from subscription receipts issued in April 2026 were released after the company satisfied applicable escrow conditions.

To complement the equity, the company secured a fully committed senior project debt commitment letter of US$335 million from Canada Infrastructure Bank and Export Development Canada. The company expects the closing of this debt facility in the third quarter of 2026, subject to certain conditions precedent.
