Dentsply Sirona Restores Profit After First-Quarter Loss

Second-quarter net sales were $898 million as GAAP results swung to $0.18 a share and adjusted EBITDA recovered to a 21.3% margin.

Dentsply Sirona Inc. (XRAY), the world’s largest diversified manufacturer of professional dental products, reported second-quarter 2026 net sales of $898 million, down 4.1% from $936 million a year earlier, with constant-currency sales down 6.3%.

The sequential turn was the quarter’s defining move. First-quarter sales had been essentially flat year over year at $880 million versus $879 million. Second-quarter sales rose to $898 million, and GAAP results flipped from a $10 million net loss and ($0.05) diluted EPS in the first quarter to $37 million of net income and $0.18 a share.

Adjusted EBITDA recovered to $190 million and a 21.3% margin from $129 million and a 14.7% margin in the first quarter. Adjusted EPS rose to $0.52 from $0.27. GAAP gross margin recovered to 54.9% from 48.5% in the first quarter; adjusted gross margin was 56.4%.

A year earlier, the company recorded a $235 million goodwill and intangible-asset impairment that produced a $45 million net loss and ($0.22) diluted EPS. That charge is not in the second-quarter 2026 results.

President and Chief Executive Officer Dan Scavilla said 2026 continues to be a year of decisive action under the Return-to-Growth Action Plan, with progress in distributor relationships, sales-team realignment, and reinvestment. He said second-quarter results were in line with expectations.

Orthodontic and Implant Solutions were the largest drag. Sales fell to $197 million, down 13.2% as reported and 14.9% in constant currency from a year earlier. EMEA sales in that segment were down 27.1% as reported.

Connected Technology Solutions sales were $239 million, down 1.5% as reported and 3.8% in constant currency. APAC sales in that segment rose 8.8% as reported.

Essential Dental Solutions sales were $376 million, down 2.7% as reported and 5.0% in constant currency. Wellspect Healthcare sales rose to $86 million, up 7.1% as reported and 3.8% in constant currency.

Operating cash flow was $99 million, compared with $48 million a year earlier, primarily due to the receipt of approximately $44 million in tariff refunds and improved management of inventory and accounts payable. Free cash flow was $55 million versus $16 million a year earlier.

The company repurchased 1.3 million shares for about $12 million. Cash and cash equivalents were $239 million as of June 30, 2026.

Dentsply Sirona is maintaining its 2026 outlook for net sales in the range of $3.5 billion to $3.6 billion and adjusted EPS in the range of $1.40 to $1.50. The benefits of tariff refunds are not included in the outlook for 2026 adjusted EPS.

The company also announced an expanded partnership with Medline Sinclair, broadening access to its Connected Technology Solutions portfolio across Canada.
