Seaboard operating income nearly doubles on sales growth
Net sales for the three months ended July 4 rose 17.8% to $2,922 million.
Seaboard (SEB), the diversified agribusiness and transportation company, reported a significant increase in operating income for the quarter ended July 4, 2026.
The results marked a period of accelerated top-line growth and margin expansion. Net sales for the three months ended July 4 rose to $2,922 million, a 17.8% increase compared to $2,480 million for the same period in 2025.
Operating income for the quarter increased to $100 million from $52 million in the prior-year period. This growth contributed to an expanded operating margin of 3.4%, up from 2.1% in the June 2025 quarter. Net earnings attributable to Seaboard rose to $153 million from $102 million for the prior-year period.
Sequential growth remained strong as net sales climbed from $2,400 million in the quarter ended April 4, 2026, to $2,922 million by July 4. However, operating income remained relatively flat over that same sequential period, moving from $96 million to $100 million.
The company's performance over the first half of the year showed a similar upward trajectory. Six-month net sales for the period ended July 4 increased to $5,322 million compared to $4,796 million for the six months ended June 28, 2025.
Operating income for the six-month period more than doubled to $196 million from $90 million in the prior-year comparison.
