The energy company reported net income of 175 million Canadian dollars for the second quarter of 2026
Baytex Energy Corp. (BTE), an operator of oil and natural gas properties in the Western Canadian Sedimentary Basin, reported net income of 175 million Canadian dollars for the second quarter of 2026. The company generated 231 million Canadian dollars in cash flows from operating activities and adjusted funds flow of 254 million Canadian dollars during the period.
Production reached 71,243 boe/d, representing 11% growth compared to the second quarter of 2025. This volume exceeded the high end of the company's previous annual guidance range of 69,000 to 71,000 boe/d. Based on this performance, the company raised its full-year production guidance to approximately 71,000 boe/d, a 1,000 boe/d increase from the prior mid-point. This represents 8% annual production growth for 2026, with a target exit rate of approximately 72,000 boe/d in the fourth quarter. Exploration and development expenditures for the year remain unchanged at approximately 625 million Canadian dollars.
Financial results for the three months ended June 30, 2026, included net income from continuing operations of 169 million Canadian dollars. The company reported a realized pricing of 87.13 per boe for the second quarter. Adjusted funds flow included 85 million Canadian dollars of realized derivatives losses on oil contracts established prior to the sale of U.S. operations.
Baytex repurchased 22 million common shares for 136 million Canadian dollars, which accounted for 3.0% of shares outstanding. The company also declared a quarterly dividend of 0.0225 per share. Net cash was 566.3 million Canadian dollars at June 30, 2026, down from 765.8 million Canadian dollars at December 31, 2025.
The company plans to drill two Utikuma exploration wells in early 2027.
