Intuitive Machines Expands Deep-Space Network With Two Acquisitions
The deals followed the $800 million Lanteris acquisition completed in January.
Intuitive Machines (LUNR), the space-infrastructure company, completed its acquisitions of Goonhilly Earth Station and COMSAT, extending its operations into owned deep-space ground communications infrastructure.
The transactions marked another step in Intuitive Machines’ expansion beyond its original operations. The company had already added spacecraft-manufacturing capabilities through its acquisition of Lanteris earlier in the year.
Goonhilly and COMSAT added ground-station assets in the U.K. and U.S. The enlarged network expanded Intuitive Machines’ communications, data-transport, and position, navigation, and timing capabilities.
Lanteris, acquired in January 2026, gave the company spacecraft-manufacturing capacity. The latest deals broadened that footprint to include infrastructure for communicating with and transporting data from spacecraft in deep space.
The expanded network is intended to support its IM-3 and Altus-1 missions.
The acquisitions tied the company’s manufacturing expansion to a ground network designed to serve its coming missions, creating an operating footprint that stretches from spacecraft production to deep-space communications.
