Dakota Gold Advances Richmond Hill, Sets CEO Transition
The gold developer reported $107 million in cash and secured program funding through 2028.
Dakota Gold (DC), a South Dakota gold exploration and development company, advanced its Richmond Hill project to the pre-feasibility stage as it prepared for a change in leadership.
Robert Quartermain will retire as chief executive on Aug. 18, 2026, and President and Chief Operating Officer Jack Henris will succeed him. Quartermain will remain co-chair and a director.
The transition came as Dakota Gold moved Richmond Hill toward permitting and financing. The company secured funding for planned programs through 2028 and reported $107 million in cash in its March 2026 financial statements.
Dakota Gold also added a development-focused executive role, appointing Shawn Campbell chief development officer. Campbell will lead shareholder engagement and seek construction financing for Richmond Hill.
The company expects to file Richmond Hill’s large-scale mine permit later in 2026 and is targeting production as soon as 2029.
Quartermain’s continued board role provided continuity as Henris took responsibility for advancing the project through its next development stages.
