Chain Bridge Bancorp Net Income Rises to $9.5 Million
Consolidated net income grew to $9.5 million in the second quarter, up from $4.6 million in the prior-year period.
Chain Bridge Bancorp (CBNA), a community bank holding company, reported consolidated net income of $9.5 million for the second quarter of 2026.
The results reflect a period of rapid balance sheet expansion driven by an influx of deposits, which shifted the company's liquidity profile and compressed certain capital ratios.
Net income rose from $7.1 million in the first quarter of 2026 and $4.6 million in the second quarter of 2025. Net interest income increased to $17.1 million, compared to $14.9 million in the previous quarter and $11.8 million in the same period last year. The net interest margin expanded to 3.45%, up from 3.41% in the first quarter and 3.39% in the second quarter of 2025.
Noninterest income grew to $2.9 million, compared to $2.4 million in the first quarter and $828 thousand in the prior-year quarter. This growth was driven largely by deposit placement services income, which rose to $2.1 million from $159 thousand in the second quarter of 2025.
Total noninterest expense fell to $8.0 million from $8.8 million in the first quarter, due to lower professional services fees. However, expenses remained higher than the $7.2 million reported in the second quarter of 2025 due to increased salary costs from a larger workforce.
Total consolidated deposits reached $2.0 billion as of June 30, 2026, up from $1.7 billion at March 31, 2026, and $1.3 billion a year earlier. These gains were driven by political organization deposit balances. ICS One-Way Sell deposits specifically increased to $668.0 million from $121.2 million in the prior-year quarter.
This growth in deposits led to a decline in the loan-to-deposit ratio, which fell to 13.70% from 22.45% as of June 30, 2025. Consequently, the tangible common equity to tangible total assets ratio compressed to 8.38% from 10.86% in the prior-year quarter. The Tier 1 leverage ratio also decreased to 9.39% from 11.45% as of June 30, 2025.
Trust and Wealth Department assets under administration rose to $772.8 million, compared to $445.4 million in the second quarter of 2025. Book value per share increased to $27.99 as of June 30, 2026, up from $23.92 in the prior-year quarter.
