LVMH Fashion Margins Hold as Asian Volumes Stabilise
Organic growth returned to the flagship division, and the company held pricing rather than chasing volume.
LVMH reported a return to organic growth in fashion and leather goods, its largest division, with operating margin roughly flat year on year.
The composition
Growth came from Japan and Europe; mainland China stabilised rather than recovered. The company said it took no incremental price this half, which makes the growth volume-led for the first time in six quarters.
Why flat margin is the story
Holding margin while absorbing volume growth without price increases implies operating leverage is working — a claim the sector has made often and demonstrated rarely.
What to watch
Wines and spirits remains in decline and management did not call a bottom. That division is small in revenue but has historically led the group's cycle.
